Lemon Pasta

A bright and creamy pasta dish with a zesty lemon twist.

Lemon Pasta is a simple yet elegant dish that combines the refreshing tang of lemon with a creamy sauce to coat al dente pasta. Perfect for a quick weekday meal or a sophisticated dinner, this recipe balances richness with citrusy brightness. Fresh lemon juice and zest, garlic, and Parmesan cheese come together to create a silky, flavorful sauce. Pair it with a crisp salad or grilled protein for a complete meal.

Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces pasta (spaghetti, linguine, or fettuccine)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter version)

  • 1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for garnish

  • Juice of 1 large lemon

  • Zest of 1 large lemon

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Fresh parsley or basil for garnish (optional)

Recipe Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.

  2. Prepare the Sauce:
Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. Combine Ingredients:
Stir in the heavy cream and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes. Add the Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, and zest, whisking until the sauce is smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Add the Pasta:
Toss the cooked pasta into the skillet with the sauce, using tongs to coat it evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add the reserved pasta water a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency.

  5. Serve:
Plate the pasta and garnish with additional Parmesan cheese, fresh parsley or basil, and a sprinkle of lemon zest. Serve immediately.
